The Top of “Made in Italy” Design Is Coming to China for an Outstanding SALONE DEL MOBILE.MILANO SHANGHAI in November

Hosted at the Italian Embassy in Beijing, the organizers of Salone del Mobile.Milano Shanghai, held a successful press conference today 19th May revealing to the awaiting Chinese market exciting news on the coming event, including the Italian brands that first confirmed to be at the show.

[Beijing] Salone del Mobile is one of the most authoritative flagships for Italian excellence. The show has a history of 55 years in Milan. It is internationally recognized as the best event for the furniture and interior design industry, with Italian brands leading the worldwide trends. Last April in Milan, Salone del Mobile.Milano reached an absolute record of attendees: 372.151! Of this great amount of professionals, more than 24,000 came from China, telling a lot about the Chinese increasing attention to design and high-standards in furniture.

“I have recently participated to the Business Forum Italy-China in Rome, sign of how important is the design and furniture industry for the business relation between our two countries. Not by chance, according to the latest data, Italy is confirmed as the first supplier of furniture for China” said Salone del Mobile.Milano President, Mr. Roberto Snaidero.

Now Italy is also looking at the Chinese market, exactly when the increasingly demanding Chinese consumer is ready to welcome Italian high-quality products. Wang Yi, Chinese minister of Foreign Affairs, talking about import of foreign products to China, recently said: “We mainly import high-quality products from Italy. Chinese people already have individual income of 10,000 dollars. Italian products are their favorite because of quality, style and upgraded technology”.

In this first edition, that will be held from 19-21 November, 2016 at the renowned Shanghai Exhibition Centre, Salone del Mobile.Milano Shanghai will bring the top Italian furniture and design production. The event is meant to engage Chinese architects and interior designers, importers, dealers, developers and high-end final consumers. The Italian brands that have to date confirmed their participation to the show are: Annibale Colombo, Arketipo, Artemide, Asnaghi Interiors, Barovier & Toso Baxter, Cattelan, Ceccotti Collezioni, Citco, Cornelio Cappellini,  Dada, Edra, Elledue Arredamenti, Fantoni, Flexform, Flou, Flos, Giorgetti, IPE Visionnaire, Jumbo Collection, Kartell, Lema, Living Divani, Minotti, Molteni & C, Oak Industria Arredamenti, Oluce, Poliform, Porada Arredi, Porro, Provasi, Quagliotti, Riva Industria Mobili, Savio Firmino, Scavolini, Sicis, Smania Industria Italiana Mobili, Turri, Villari, Varenna,  Zanaboni Salotti.

The show organizers’ have focused on the quality of Salone del Mobile.Milano Shanghai visitors, and for this reason the show will be by invitation. Selected Chinese operators are expected to attend the event from China 1st, 2nd and 3rd tier cities, and to start fruitful collaborations with the Italian producers.

Salone del Mobile.Milano Shanghai will bring the excellence of Italian furniture to China, but not only. “Made in Italy” will be fully introduced through a series of concepts and initiatives related to Italian lifestyle including food, wine, luxury, fashion and more. Two are the main activities that will take place in November officially announced during the press conference today in Beijing: Master Classes and SaloneSatellite.

Master Classes is a not-to-be-missed appointment with top Architects and Designers who will disclose new insights of the industry. With a 3-days educational program Master Classes will serve as the perfect platform for the two cultures interaction on the hottest design topics in China and in the world.

Dedicated to designers under 35 years old, SaloneSatellite is also coming to Shanghai and will be focused on Chinese young designers. China already gave a strong signal to the world during the last two edition of SaloneSatellite Awards in Milan. In April 2015, the first price of SaloneSatellite award was won by a Chinese young designer. This year, the 19th edition of SaloneSatellite in Milan whit the presence of the Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi for the Awards ceremony, had a Chinese young designer, Frank Chou, as one of the winners of the Special mentions. All the details about SaloneSatellite will be soon disclosed and will bring a new wave of excitement among the Chinese young designers scenario. A distinguished jury of professionals will decide the winners.

The following personalities attended today’s official press conference: Ettore Francesco Sequi - Italian Ambassador in China, Roberto Snaidero - President of FederlegnoArredo, Federlegno Arredo Eventi and Salone del Mobile.Milano, Giovanni De Ponti - CEO Federlegno Arredo Eventi spa, David Zhong - President of VNU Exhibition Asia Ltd. co-organizer of Salone del Mobile.Milano Shanghai, and Amedeo Scarpa - Italian Trade Commissioner in Beijing & Coordinator of ICE Offices in China and Mongolia, attended the meeting. Frank Chou, Founder, Creative Director of Frank Chou Design Studio.

Salone del Mobile.Milano Shanghai, received a huge support by the Italian Government Foreign Minister Mr. Gentiloni and Economic Development Minister Mr. Calenda, the Italian Trade Agency – ICE and the leading Italian institutions present in China. The Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, was also involved in the preliminary works.
