China’s Leading Exhibition on Building Systems, Technologies and Energy Efficiency

With the economic development and industrialization in China, urbanization has swept across Mainland China, and China has witnessed a striking economic growth rate two times the average growth rate of the world economy during the same period. By the end of 2011, the urbanization ratio of China has reached 51.3%. It is expected that the Chinese urbanization ratio will reach 65% in 2030. Urbanization will become an enormous engine for driving socioeconomic developments in China after the industrialization and the market-oriented reform programs.

According to the Building Energy Efficiency Program during the 12th Five-Year Plan Period formulated by the Department of Building Energy Efficiency & Technologies under the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD), between 2011-2015, the accumulated area of all new buildings nationwide will reach 4-5 billion square meters. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance and the MOHURD have jointly issued the Opinions on Speeding up the Development of Green Buildings in China. The objective is that: by 2015, the total area of new green buildings will exceed more than 1 billion square meters, and by 2020, the area of green buildings will account for more than 30% of the total area of all new buildings, by establishing a fiscal incentive mechanism and promoting the advancement of related technologies and industries. The fast urban development in China increases the demand on green buildings and energy efficiency. The green and energy efficiency building market contains abundant business opportunities.

Based on the development philosophy of exploring a low-carbon emission path, industrialized production method and interactions from all the actors in the whole industrial chain, Green Building China 2013 (GBC 2013) will be held soon in Shanghai. The theme of this exhibition is to link all players in the industrial chain by integrating sustainable designs, innovative technologies and products, cutting-edge materials and system service solutions, leading construction techniques and practices in the building industry. All this is put together in order to confront the ecological challenges facing the urban construction industry and to actively push forward the development of the green building and energy efficiency industry in China.
