To create a comprehensive exhibition platform matching the development of green building industry in China

Following the guiding ideology of the construction of ecological civilization and the green building industry science and technology development during the "Twelfth Five-year Plan” Period approved at the 18th National Congress of the CPC, the Guo Ban Fa [2013] No. 1 File "Green Building Action Plan" issued by the General Office of the State Council on January 1, 2013 put forward to strengthen the energy conservation work of new buildings, vigorously promote energy-saving renovation of existing buildings, accelerate the research, development and promotion of the technologies related to green building, and propel the industrialization of construction.

The Guo Fa [2013] No. 30 file, "Opinions of the State Council on Accelerating the Development of Energy-saving and Environmental Protection Industry", issued by the State Council on August 1 2013, clearly pointed out to speed up the development of the energy-saving and environmental protection industry and elevate annual output growth of the energy saving and environmental protection industry to be over 15%; by 2015, the gross output value should reach RMB4.5 trillion; efforts should be made to build the industry into a pillar of the national economy; we must vigorously carry out the “Green Building” initiative; by 2015, the construction area of new green buildings should be above 1 billion square meters, the ratio of the green buildings at the two-star level or above should be more than 20% among the new buildings in cities and towns; efforts should be made to build the green ecological cities (districts) to boost the renovation of green buildings and the development of related industries.

As one of the key cities of green energy-saving buildings, Shanghai published the "Circular of Printing and Issuance of Special Supporting Measures of Building Energy-saving Projects in Shanghai Municipality" (the Hu Fa Gai Huan Zi [2012] No. 088 File) in May 2013, in a bid to subsidize for the green demonstration projects. In July 2013, at the executive meeting of the Shanghai Government presided over by Shanghai Mayor Yang Xiong, the development of green building industry was discussed again and numerous guiding opinions were passed.

The clear policies have boosted the growth of China’s green buildings. Especially, the Guo Fa [2013] No. 30 File has set the goal for China’s green building market. Upon the development in recent years, more than 30 award-winning projects and 10 demonstration parks that have taken the lead in the domestic market have emerged in the market of Shanghai green building industry and echoed the guiding spirit of the government. With the continuous rationalization of the policies, markets and technologies, the communication platform matching China’s green building industry is badly needed by various parties in the green building industry chain. GBC 2013 Shanghai International Green Building and Energy Efficiency Exhibition will be a high-profile debut in response to the increasing demand.

As the only large-scale exhibition in the annual "Shanghai Green Building Science and Technology Week", "GBC Shanghai International Green Building and Energy Efficiency Exhibition" has kept a toehold on the development demands of various enterprises of the green building industry chain. On the basis of high profile, GBC 2013 will gather a large number of the latest key projects of the green building industry in 2013:

The highest building in Shanghai, Shanghai Tower, will announce the latest cutting-edge green building and green technology; China Academy of Building Research Shanghai Institute will show its experience to transfer Jin Mao Tower, the former huge energy-consumer, into an existing building that has obtained the LEED-EB certification. The demonstrative base of the prefabricated assembly concrete technology system of Shanghai Urban Construction Group (the "Pattern of PC residential industrialization") is the "affordable housing projects in the 05-02 plot in the large residential community base in Pujiang". What new technologies have been adopted in the "Project of Chenjia Town Ecological Office Building of Chongming" that has been awarded the first prize of 2013 national green building innovation"?
